History of CloudQM

Fresh from positions of Design Manager for the Design-Build-Own-Operate Confederate Bridge in PEI Canada, and Quality Mgr with the contractor that built the Vancouver Millennium Line, Jim Turnham (founder of CloudQM) wrote a Quality Management (ISO 9001) course, CMGT 7246 for BCIT’s (British Columbia Institute of Technology) Construction Management Degree Program (CMGT) and has been teaching and improving the course ever since.

January 8, 2004

The first of 50 plus Capstone 8800 Industry Sponsored student projects that Jim has had the pleasure of serving as Faculty Advisor, typically 8 – 10 student projects per year.

2004-2008

Jim assisted the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Quality Assurance Committee 121 in publishing a document How to write a Quality Plan per ISO 9001. Jim then utilized the resulting Quality Plan Template in the teaching of quality management. 13 years and countless revisions later, Jim is still improving the Quality Plan Template (this time to be launched from this Website) to assist construction management students in writing Quality Plans. ACI and Committee 121 has shown interest in utilizing the Website for making Quality Plans available to their customers and patrons.

2017

“Pay-it-Forward, Quality Management” was launched, connecting excellent BCIT CMGT 7246 undergraduate projects and 8800 Capstone graduate projects by means of construction QMS. Pay-it-Forward was initiated by Jim in in order to provide further on-going usage for excellent Work Methods (WMs) and Quality Plans (QPs) produced by CMGT 7246 BCIT students for use by others. 8800 Capstone students have come to be the main users of Pay-it-Forward.

Spring 2021

Jim has been joined by James Bell and Keila Lombardozzi for the launch of the CloudQM Website.
